Separate domain vs. Subdirectory under BioWiki
When filling out the registration form, you need to select either the "Separate domain" option or the "Subdirectory under BioWiki" option. Please select one or the other based on the following guideline:
-
Usually the “Separate domain” option is suitable for a broadly-scoped project whereas the “Subdirectory under BioWiki” option is appropriate for a narrowly-scoped project. In other words, the Separate domain option is field-centric while the Subdirectory under BioWiki is topic-centric.
-
If you want a separate domain, please go through the list of available domains that we already own at http://biowiki.net/index.php/Biowiki_Site_List, and select one from them.
-
If you cannot find an appropriate domain from the list, please choose the Subdirectory option instead regardless of the nature of your project. We cannot purchase another domain for the contest at the present time.If you have a question on this issue, please let the contest organizer know (swhwang@kribb.re.kr)
A minimal tutorial on BioWiki editor
We developed an easy-to-use editor called BioWiki editor which is based on FCKeditor. The Biowiki editor will be invoked whenever you click the edit tab. Most functionalities of Biowiki editor is as intuitive as most word processor softwares. A minimal set of instructions are thus shown below. If you have any questions, please let the contest organizer know (swhwang@kribb.re.kr).
How to create a new page
You can create a new web page and link it to the current web page by enclosing the name of the page you want to create in double square brackets (that is, [[ ]]). Upon saving the current page, the new web page (whose name is inside the double square brackets) is created and can be further edited when its edit tab is clicked.

How to insert an image
First, click "Insert/Edit Image" icon.

Then, a pop-up window appears.

If you want to link the URL of an image, enter the URL at "Image Info" tab. If you want to upload an image file to the server, use "Upload" tab.
